The Creative Programme will seek to deliver an ambitious, place-shaping schedule of activities, events, festivals, residencies and public art over the next few years.  This will animate key town centre spaces and heritage assets, attracting new audiences to cultural activity and bringing international connections to Grimsby.  Creative Programme activities will utilise both outdoor and indoor spaces and will occur regularly throughout the year.  Central to this was the amazing creative and cultural spectacle ‘Festival of the Sea’, which happened on Saturday 17th July 2021 and Saturday 16th July 2022, delivered by Walk the Plank and The Culture House.

Following our Creative Programme tender we can announce the appointment of our four creative leadsCreative Start Arts in Health CICEmergency Exit ArtsEvent Show Support CIC and The Culture House. Central to the programme, will be the themes, identified in earlier research work, of ‘origin’, ‘heritage’, ‘food’ and ‘future’. By working together, artists and organisations will develop their creative practice and provide wider benefits for Grimsby, via this inspiring programme.

Furthermore, opportunities are enhanced as a result of the ambitious €4 million Creative Europe ‘People Power Partnership’ (PPP), facilitated by National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) Magna Vitae.  This is an international scale participative theatre project enabling local talented young people the chance to deliver a theatrical premiere in public spaces in Grimsby and in two additional European Cities.   The young people will have the chance to collaborate with international participants from 12 other towns and cities to deliver a large-scale production in Freiburg, Germany.  This production will then be toured to include an event in Grimsby.  This partnership provides an opportunity to deliver events with a scale and ambition never seen in Grimsby before, accessing world class arts producers.
