Festival of the Sea Survey Winner

The Festival of the Sea, produced by the Culture House and Walk the Plank, was the first in Grimsby Creates’ exciting programme of events. As we naturally wanted feedback, local evaluator S4W Ltd produced a survey that attendants could fill out to tell us what they liked and what we could do differently to improve. Attached to this survey, however, was an offer: fill it out and be in with the chance to win a £50 voucher to a local independent business of your choice.

The lucky winner of this competition was Maria Swales. Maria chose the restaurant A Priest, a Mill and a Ferry, ran by local entrepreneurs Maddie and Paul Shaw in Grimsby’s Top Town Market.

Maddie and Paul are a shining example of local businesspeople: enthusiastic, approachable, and clearly very passionate about what they’re doing. They derived the name of their restaurant from Grimsby’s entry in the Domesday Book of 1086, boasting the settlements ownership of a priest, a mill and a ferry. This very same fact is etched onto the pavement in the newly refurbished St James Square.
